About Chisenhall Fellowship

Chisenhall Fellowship is a church in Burleson, Texas, committed to clear, text-driven Bible teaching and forming people who take faith—and life—seriously.

We exist to help people find family, clarity, identity, and calling by walking closely with Jesus and one another.

Our Leadership

Chisenhall Fellowship is somewhat unique in that we don’t have one senior pastor. Instead, we share leadership among multiple pastors, deacons, and ministry team leaders.

Our Story

Chisenhall Fellowship is the continuation of what was formerly known as South Burleson Baptist Church.

Our Beginnings

We were established in 1979 as a mission church of First Baptist Church of Burleson. So people and families gave up their comfort to help establish a community of Jesus so that other people could find a spiritual family.

Our Church in Ashes

Our whole church building burned down in 1997, and many people came together to rebuild and re-establish our church in Burleson.

A New Season in 2020

On January 5, 2020, our church called Pastor Drew Caperton to lead us into whatever Jesus has next for us. Amidst all the change that has taken place, our vision is still to be a family trying to follow Jesus personally.

We are imperfect, but we are learning.

We choose vulnerability, even in our imperfection.

We choose relationships, even when screens are easier.

We choose hope and courage amidst disappointment and insecurities.

These things have always been true of us as a family, and we look forward to continuing on that journey.

Renaming to Chisenhall Fellowship

In January of 2026, we officially changed our name to Chisenhall Fellowship. The name change reflects a renewed clarity about who we are called to reach and how we want to speak about faith in a changing culture. While the name changed, our convictions did not.

We remain:

  • Theologically conservative

  • Centered on Scripture

  • Focused on discipleship, not performance

  • Part of the Southern Baptist Convention

The new name signals a forward-looking posture—rooted in historic Christian faith, but speaking plainly to people who may have stepped away from church or never felt at home in it.

What We’re Here For

We believe the church exists to form people, not just host events. That’s why we talk often about four movements of growth:

Find Your Family

God designed people to grow in sacrificial community. We believe real spiritual formation happens in relationships—not rows.

Find Clarity

Clarity comes from hearing and responding to God’s Word. We work carefully through Scripture so faith is something you can understand, not just feel.

Find Your Identity

Following Jesus reshapes how you see yourself, your work, and your purpose. Identity isn’t discovered by looking inward—but by walking faithfully over time.

Find Your Calling

Every Christian is called to invest in others. We believe discipling - walking with people toward obedience - is the primary way God grows His church.

There is a table with a book and some papers in front of him, and a large screen displaying the word "livesubmitted" and a Bible verse reference. There are standing lamps illuminating the background.

What Our Teaching Is Like

Our sermons are:

  • Text-driven (the Bible sets the agenda)

  • Thoughtful and intellectually serious

  • Practical without being shallow

  • Minimal on Christian jargon

We assume people are capable of thinking deeply—and that faith should make sense in everyday life.

Who This Church Is Especially For

While people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, we feel a particular responsibility toward young adults who are:

  • Beginning to build their lives

  • Serious about work, relationships, and responsibility

  • Disenchanted with shallow or performative Christianity

We believe forming people like this blesses families, churches, and cities.

What Guides Us

We hold a conservative, historic understanding of the Christian faith, grounded in the authority of Scripture.

Our theology shapes:

  • How we teach

  • How we organize church life

  • How we understand leadership and responsibility

Some of our convictions are explained more fully here: What We Believe

A Church That Takes Time

We don’t expect instant transformation. We believe growth happens slowly, through teaching, repentance, obedience, and community.

If you’re looking for a place to listen, learn, and take your next step without pressure, you’re welcome to walk with us.
